Meet the CYCLE Kids Boston Marathon Team organizing committee!

Julie Idlet Moved by her concern about the prevalence of type II diabetes and heart disease in children, Julie founded CYCLE Kids in 2004. Following her love and passion for bicycling, she developed the CYCLE Kids program, which provides the only after-school or physical education curriculum that introduces children to the joys of biking, healthy eating, fitness, and environmental awareness in settings that reach a large population.  Prior to CYCLE Kids, Julie worked for more than 20 years in the business world, focusing on business development for start-up companies.  She also coached the Harvard University Cycling Team, working with new riders to encourage them to reach their highest levels of performance.  Her supportive enthusiasm is integral to her teams’ successes.

Rebekah Mueller Rebekah became involved with CYCLE Kids in November of 2009 when chance caused her to bump into Julie in Harvard Square- after hearing about Julie’s work, she couldn’t wait to come on board and help with program implementation and CYCLE Kids events.  Rebekah was truly inspired by last years marathon team- their moving journey has convinced her to run Boston this year too.  She looks forward to sharing this training and fundraising journey with you!  Rebekah graduated from Bowdoin College in 2007 and worked in Manhattan until fate led her to CYCLE Kids’ doorstep last winter.   She now in lives in Medford, MA with her fiancee Justin and dog Little Bear.

Team Coach Mary Johanson, A graduate of Boston University, Mary has taught business at the high school, junior college and adult level.  Over the last 10 years Mary has worked in residential real estate attaining the top producer award.  She currently coaches middle and high school x-country and track and field.  She was a nationally ranked distance runner for many years.  More recently she has taken up cycling and was the 2008 MA Senior Games champion in both the road race and time trials events, qualifying for the 2009 Nationals in San Francisco.  Mary has been involved with CYCLE Kids as a teacher and volunteer since 2004.  This will be her 3rd year as our team coach!  She lives in Belmont, MA with her husband, David and kitty,  Zeke.
